Promote the Arts!

The Importance of Supporting the Arts in your Community

Arts are a fundamental component of a healthy community. They inspire us. Art brings joy, helps express our values and builds bridges between cultures.

Art Stimulates the Economy

Creative industries in the US employ about 3 million people & represent nearly 4 percent of the nation’s businesses. Creative people empower and support innovation. Annually, non-profit arts and culture organizations provide about $60 billion for the national economy.

Art Drives Tourism

The most extraordinary thing about art is its ability to turn this area into an art loving tourist destination. The reason is arts wide appeal. Adults, seniors and children engage in and learn from art.

To top that: everyday 100,000 artistically cultural nonprofit organizations represent our nation’s tourism industry.

ART:

  1. Improves individual well-being.
  2. Unifies communities.
  3. Improves academic performance.
  4. Strengthens the economy.
  5. Drives tourism and revenue to local businesses.
  6. Sparks creativity and innovation.
  7. Drives the creative industries.
  8. Has social impact.
  9. Improves healthcare.
  10. Aids “at-risk” and low-income youth in attending college, voting, and volunteering.
  11. Reduces anxiety and the amount of medication in Alzheimer’s patients.
  12. Benefits in patient recovery.
  13. Reduces child abuse and neglect.
  14. Factors in the decision to move to a certain area

THE NATIONAL GOVERNORS’ ASSOCIATION (NGA), founded in 1908, (formed of the governors of the 50 states, three territories, and two commonwealths) was created to encourage support for area growth using “Arts and Culture to Stimulate State Economic Development.”

4 out of 5 art organizations partner outside the arts with schools, senior centers, environmental organizations, refugee and immigrant organizations, hospitals and clinics, city departments and more. Studies show individuals involved in art are far more likely to volunteer.

Arts and culture-related industries, also known as “creative industries,” provide direct economic benefits to states and communities: They create jobs, attract investments, generate tax revenue, and stimulate local economies through tourism and consumer purchases.

We work with high school, business development teachers, journalism departments, and art departments to provide real life experience in creating promotions, developing skills with people and community service. We recruit volunteers to assist with events in every county.  (Please ask us for help! We will send it. To sign up to help with local events email publisher@pineywoodslife.com)

Your contributions allow us to carry out our mission of stimulating awareness and appreciation of the arts. Because of you we can showcase artists, share art events and inspire a local culture of creative and innovative thinkers. We appreciate your continued support of our local arts community.

This area around the lakes is enhanced because of the local arts and we would like to give you a place on the map for supporting the artists.

“It’s Good for the Economy”

“Truth be told, saying that local art is “good for the economy” is kind of an understatement. According to Americans for the Arts, the economic impact of the nonprofit arts and culture industry in the US accounts for over $63 billion total direct expenditures from organizations and more than $102 billion from audiences each year. These sectors are responsible for the creation of about 4.6 million jobs. And as for the local scene? Nonlocal audiences spend $47.57 for every $23.44 locals spend on performing and visual arts organizations, festivals, public art programs, museums, and arts centers.” According to Dan Ketchum with ArtBase.com
